Description
PCDC is seeking highly- qualified candidates with experience in Early Childhood Education. Our mission is to nurture and educate children and their families. We provide opportunities for education, parenting support, and resources to families in our communities.

We are looking for Head Start Preschool Assistant Teacher that are passionate about working with children, has excellent interpersonal skills, and possess a love for education. The perfect Assistant Teacher will have great classroom management skills and be able to collaborate with the Lead Teacher to implement the curriculum.



Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Responsible for coordinating the daily operations of the assigned class.

Assist in plans and implements curriculum activities and lesson plans that promote children’s social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development. Implements program schedule for the classroom, outdoor time, meals, snacks, and special activities.

Keeps accurate and current records of each child’s developmental milestones, student accidents, anecdotal records, and attendance.

Establishes developmentally appropriate room arrangement, décor, and learning environment in the classroom.

Provides written communication and/or Daily Reports to parents via paper, ChildPlus. Or any other digital communication.

Ensures that daily list of activities is posted for parents. Maintains classroom bulletin boards.

Actively participates in school events, staff training sessions, meetings, and programs.

Ensures that classroom has adequate equipment and activities.

Ensures that equipment and the facility are clean, well-maintained and safe at all times.

Be familiar with the emergency procedures.

Accepts temporary work assignments in the event regularly scheduled staff is not available, such as answering the phones, helping in another class, and/or assisting in management of school.

2. Supervise the pre-school children.

Ensures children are supervised at all times (100% attention toward children).

Provides various experiences and activities for children including songs, games and storytelling.

Provides a safe and secure environment for children to feel comfortable

Use positive discipline as required.

Communicates clearly with children in a manner that they can understand.

Be observant of children and note their progress.

3. Complete necessary administrative tasks and training requirements

Keeps parents informed of center expectations and activities.

Maintains current, accurate and confidential files as needed including emergency. information, lesson plans and child developmental profiles.

Work with the site manager as needed for other administrative tasks.

Requirements
High School Diploma (or GED); Minimum of 2 years of experience working with preschool children in an educational or childcare setting
